My Vintage Volvos

I have two Volvos, a 1974 145 with 250,000 miles, which is my daily driver, and a 1959 445 "Duett," which I am fixing up.

The 445 is chassis no. 27344, with the original B16 engine and a 6v electrical system. It is currently in pre-restoration condition. It has original paint, engine and upholstery. To get it running, I started by pulling the fuel tank and having it boiled, re-sealed and painted. I also sent the original SU carbs to Joe Curto in NY, who did a fantastic job on a rebuild. I replaced the belt, hoses, fuel line rubber, thermostat and fuel filter. I also had to modify a the B18 fuel pump that the previous owner has mistakenly installed and which [surprise] didn't work. I shimmed the lever on the pump to engage the pump with less movement by the shaft lobe in the engine block. The car runs OK now, and I drove it under its own power for the first time today (8/23/2001).
